Thomas J. Reid is the new head of school at Upland Country Day School.<\/p><\/div>\n

EAST MARLBOROUGH \u2014 The Board of Trustees at Upland Country Day School announced the\u00a0appointment of Thomas J. Reid as Head of School and the election of three\u00a0new Trustees. Joining the 17-member board are Peter Thayer, Edwina (Evie)\u00a0Dutton and Margaret Hamilton Duprey.<\/p>\n

Tom Reid has more than 25 years experience as a head of school. He was\u00a0most recently the interim head of school at Palmer Trinity School, a\u00a0670-student, grade 6-12 school in Palmetto Bay, Florida. Prior to his\u00a0position at Palmer Trinity, he served as headmaster at St. Paul\u2019s School,\u00a0a K- 12 all boys school in Lutherville, Maryland for 11 years. During that\u00a0time, Tom led the school in the achievement of the International\u00a0Baccalaureate World School designation, a rigorous academic program that\u00a0encourages students worldwide to become active, compassionate and lifelong\u00a0learners. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Prior to his role at St. Paul\u2019s, Reid spent 14 years as the\u00a0headmaster of Buckley Country Day School, an elementary school in Roslyn,\u00a0New York. Among his many professional accomplishments, he was the\u00a0President of the Association of Independent Maryland Schools and the Vice\u00a0President of the New York State Association of Independent Schools. While\u00a0Reid\u2019s chief responsibilities throughout his career have been in school\u00a0leadership, he has also taught history and served as director of athletics\u00a0and as an ice hockey coach.<\/p>\n

Peter Thayer joins the Board of Trustees. He has more than 36 years\u00a0experience working in independent schools. He is currently the Head of\u00a0School at St. Anne\u2019s Episcopal School, a Pre-K through 8th grade\u00a0independent day school in Middletown, Delaware. Previously he served as\u00a0the Head of Middle School at Lancaster Country Day School in Lancaster,\u00a0Pennsylvania; Admissions Director at Kent Denver School in Englewood,\u00a0Colorado and as an English teacher and college guidance counselor at\u00a0University Liggett School in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. \u00a0Thayer attended\u00a0Episcopal Academy, then located in Merion, Pennsylvania. \u00a0He holds a\u00a0Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Williams College and a Master of\u00a0Arts in English from Middlebury College BreadLoaf \u00a0School. He and his\u00a0wife, Francie, have three grown children, each involved in independent\u00a0school education.<\/p>\n

Edwina (Evie) Davis Dutton is well known in the international equestrian\u00a0eventing community and is a longtime Upland committee member serving on\u00a0both the school\u2019s Development and Capital Campaign Committees. She also\u00a0co-chairs Upland\u2019s Annual Paper Chase fundraiser, an event that draws more\u00a0than 250 riders from throughout the region. Dutton is currently a business\u00a0manager with Phillip Dutton Eventing LLC in West Grove, Pa. \u00a0In addition\u00a0to serving on the Upland Board of Trustees, she is on the Advisory\u00a0Committee of the Plantation Field International Horse Trials, the Waters\u00a0Edge Committee with the Stroud Water Research Center, the Professional\u00a0Riders Organization Awards Committee and a board member of the Curran\u00a0Foundation. Dutton attended Foxcroft School in Middleburg, Virginia and\u00a0received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University. She lives\u00a0in West Grove with her husband Phillip, an Olympic equestrian, and three\u00a0daughters, two currently attending Upland Country Day School and the\u00a0third, a sophomore at the University of Delaware.<\/p>\n

Margaret Duprey owns and manages Cherry Knoll Farm in West Grove, an\u00a0organization specializing in the breeding and development of Black Angus\u00a0cattle recognized as state, regional and national champions. \u00a0She is a\u00a0respected philanthropist serving as a trustee for multiple charitable and\u00a0professional organizations. She is currently on the Board of Directors of\u00a0the Hamilton Family Foundation, an organization established to improve the\u00a0lives of economically underserved Philadelphia children and youth. \u00a0She\u00a0also is a Trustee Emeritus of the SVF Foundation in Newport, Rhode Island\u00a0and a Trustee for the USET Foundation in Gladstone, New Jersey. \u00a0Duprey\u00a0joined the Cabrini College Board of Trustees in 1981 after graduating from\u00a0the college with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She served as Board
\nChair of the Cabrini College board from 2000 through 2007 and received an\u00a0honorary degree from the college in 2008. Duprey is a lifelong equestrian\u00a0and is involved as a trustee and member of multiple national equestrian\u00a0and bovine organizations including the US Dressage Federation and the\u00a0American Angus Association. She and her husband Bob live in Wellington,\u00a0Florida and West Grove, Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n
