Nixon Park, as seen here, was a big success. The new season kicks off June 25.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>KENNETT \u2014 Once again, Anson B. Nixon Park is gearing up for another exciting outdoor summer concert series, starting Wednesday, June 25.<\/p>\n<p>Each Wednesday evening throughout the summer, the Kennett Area Park Authority (KAPA) hosts free concerts\u00a0\u00a0 Families and friends gather at the beautiful\u00a0 entertainment pavilion, sitting on blankets and chairs under the trees, watching the sun set over the picturesque pond.\u00a0 \u00a0A range of bands perform each week, featuring a variety of musical genres.\u00a0 This summer the schedule features many groups with a local focus.\u00a0 The line-up includes a welcome back to the Melton Brothers who helped to originate the summer concert series, a 40<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary celebration of the Sin City Band, and several other local musicians.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The concerts are typically held rain or shine and begin promptly at 7:00 pm. The shows are always family friendly, with pets welcome on leash.\u00a0 Grab a lawn chair or blanket, pack a picnic or enjoy a light supper catered by a different local restaurant each week.\u00a0 Purchase a frozen treat from La Michoacana Ice Cream or a refreshing beverage from Philter Coffee.\u00a0 \u00a0Follow Anson B. Nixon Park on Facebook for more information about the concerts, severe weather cancellations, and other activities.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday, June 25: ALLIGATOR ZYDECO BAND <\/b>performs the music from Louisiana called Zydeco. The father-daughter team of Greg &amp; Laura Troiano\u2014a.k.a. the Snakeman &amp; the Zydeco Girl\u2014front this band of talented musicians.\u00a0 This concert is sponsored by The Hadley Fund.\u00a0 Supper is available from <b>Byrsa Bistro<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday, July 2: MARK UNRUH &amp; FRIENDS<\/b>\u00a0 features Americana Roots and Bluegrass music \u2013 a local Kennett Square multi-instrumentalist, Mark is well known and respected nationally in the business.\u00a0 Supper is available from the <b>Kennett Square Inn<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday, July 9: THE MELTON BROTHERS<\/b> return after performing regularly in the Park in past seasons.\u00a0\u00a0 Dennis and Dale Melton and friends\u2019 style is a blend of groove swing, R&amp;B, country blues and roots rock, and the show is a musical conversation delivering their own songs and stunning interpretations with rhythms and harmonies.\u00a0 Supper is available from <b>Philter Coffee<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday, July 16<\/b>:\u00a0<b>&#8220;IN THE ROUND&#8221;<\/b> with three talented singer\/songwriters &#8211; Lizanne Knott, Tom Hampton &amp; Jesse Terry.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The inspiring\u00a0 lyrics and melodies of these Philadelphia-area musicians will totally move you.\u00a0 Supper is available from <b>State Street Pizza and Grill.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><\/b><b>Wednesday, July 23<\/b>:\u00a0<b>THE SIN CITY BAND <\/b>\u00a0celebrates their 40<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary as local neighborhood purveyors of omni-directional timeless yet well-aged music.\u00a0 Supper is available from the <b>Country Butcher.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday, July 30: ROLLING THUNDER BLUES REVUE<\/b> is made up of members of the soulful organ trio &#8220;The Sermon!&#8221; and &#8220;Mason Porter&#8221; and other veteran players of music from metal to medieval.\u00a0 Supper IS available from <b>Nourish Juice Bar and Caf\u00e9<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday, August 6: THE RED ALERT<\/b> BAND plays a variety of music including styles from the 60&#8217;s to today&#8217;s best dance hits.\u00a0 Supper is available from <b>Yo&#8217;R So Sweet Crepes,<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Wednesday, August 13: REAL DIAMOND<\/b>\u00a0 is the premier Neil Diamond tribute band around, recreating the experience and memories of a favorite talented performer of the past.\u00a0 Supper is available from<b> Portabello&#8217;s<\/b>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KENNETT \u2014 Once again, Anson B.
