With summer on the near horizon, don’t stress, be smart<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\"UTKellyColumn<\/a>Memorial Day weekend!\u00a0 Can you believe that we FINALLY made it?\u00a0 After the brutally cold winter and soggy spring, could warm, sunny weather be ahead?!? \u00a0Let\u2019s celebrate!<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t let shopping for a bathing suit dampen your spirits!\u00a0 There will be NO fat talk!\u00a0 This year, we will embrace our curves and flaws with grace.\u00a0 (stop laughing)<\/p>\n

So as not to appear completely out of touch with reality, here are some tips and tricks to a successful experience:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Shave your legs- It sounds kooky, but proper grooming is essential.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Apply self-tanner the day before- I prefer Jergen\u2019s Natural Glow.\u00a0 It\u2019s cheap and the color builds gradually. \u00a0Get into an every-other-day application and you will see great results!<\/p>\n

\"Kelly\"<\/a>\u2022 Go on a \u201cgood hair day\u201d- You know what I mean.\u00a0 Shop when you feel good about yourself.\u00a0 For me, it means post workout on a day with very low humidity (and a recent pedicure).\u00a0 Slap on some lip-gloss for good measure, too.\u00a0 It can\u2019t hurt.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Bring a brutally honest friend- (I\u2019m available at a low hourly rate)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Survey your closet- In your everyday wardrobe, do you prefer patterns or solid colors?\u00a0 Chances are you will be more comfortable in a similar bathing suit.<\/p>\n

\u2022 DO NOT buy a tankini because you are over 40- On the flip side, DO NOT buy a Bedazzled string bikini to match your belly button ring if you are over 40. \u00a0Modesty does not mean matronly, ladies\u2026but, a \u201cfit 40 something\u201d is no 21 year old either.\u00a0 Keep it real.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Go up a size (or two)- Bathing suit shopping is not the time to down-size.\u00a0 Generally speaking, suits run larger than normal clothes.\u00a0 For heaven\u2019s sake, do not squeeze yourself into something just because of the tag.\u00a0 Sit down, stand up, bend over, reach your arms over your head.\u00a0 None of these moves should result in a peep show.<\/p>\n

These suggested guidelines make picking the perfect bikini a breeze!\u00a0 Right?\u00a0 I knew it.<\/p>\n
