{"id":20890,"date":"2014-02-21T08:21:56","date_gmt":"2014-02-21T13:21:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=20890"},"modified":"2014-02-19T17:23:15","modified_gmt":"2014-02-19T22:23:15","slug":"county-agencies-offering-spring-support-groups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/?p=20890","title":{"rendered":"County agencies offering spring support groups"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: medium;\"><em><strong>Wednesday evening sessions available for adoptive or kinship families<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h1>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_09901.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" alt=\"IMG_0990\" src=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/IMG_09901-300x264.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"264\" \/><\/a>Operating on the premise that there\u2019s strength in numbers, a consortium of county departments and agencies has announced the spring schedule for post-adoption and grand-family support groups.<\/p>\n<p>The sessions, which will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the county\u2019s Government Services Center building (601 Westtown Rd., West Chester) on Wednesdays: March 5 and 12; April 2, 16, and 30; and May 14. \u00a0Staff will be in the lobby to direct participants to their assigned rooms, a news release said.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers said six discussion\/activity groups will run simultaneously in separate rooms: adoptive parents, grand-families (kinship families), teens (age 14-18), boys (age 6-13), girls (age 6-13), and pre-school (age 2-5).\u00a0The children\u2019s groups include discussion, activities, games, stories and crafts\u00a0appropriate to each age group; adult groups are open discussions with occasional speakers, the release said.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Any adoptive family that is or has been involved with Chester County\u2019s Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) or Permanency Partners is eligible for the post-adoption group. Other adoptive families can be included upon request to DCYF (610-344-5890).
