\"UTKellyRev2Column\"<\/a>This is what happens when you try to act like a professional hair colorist\/stylist and you aren\u2019t one.\u00a0 You end up in a chair with foil on your head and a cloak of shame.<\/p>\n

I have written about this very topic before and in my typical \u201cknow-it-all-ness\u201d, I sound like I have it all figured out.\u00a0 The problem?\u00a0 I rarely take my own advice.\u00a0 So, when my roots had gotten to the point where a pony tail was no longer the solution, I wandered into CVS and bought a box off of the shelf.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the interesting part\u2026the color that I had been using was discontinued.\u00a0 RED FLAG.\u00a0 Emphasis on \u201cred.\u201d \u00a0I chose a hue that sounded intriguing and plunked down my $8.\u00a0 Bargain, right?<\/p>\n

What\u2019s that saying, \u201cyou get what you pay for?\u201d\u00a0 Ummmmm, clearly.<\/p>\n

The selfies of shame. Your author is saved from a “bargain” hair dye by our friends at Nicolas Anthony.<\/p><\/div>\n

For those of you who saw me at the (indoor) Unionville basketball game with a knit beanie securely in place, now you know why.<\/p>\n

My hair soaked up that color like nobody\u2019s business.\u00a0 The top of my head was at least 3 shades brighter than the rest of my hair.\u00a0 And, it was florescent. \u00a0NOT good.<\/p>\n

I frantically called Nicholas Anthony Salon in Willowdale the next morning and was offered a 10:00am appointment.\u00a0 A mere 2 and \u00bd hours later, Laura (aka: The Miracle Worker) had transformed me back into someone who could walk around in public without a hat.<\/p>\n

The moral of this story is that there are some things you should leave to people who are trained professionals.\u00a0 For example, I think that waxing your own eyebrows has the potential for disaster.\u00a0 Clipping your own cuticles.\u00a0 Injecting your own Botox (even though I would probably still try if given the opportunity! Ha!)<\/p>\n

The price of beauty.\u00a0 It is a necessary evil, ladies.\u00a0 Am I right?<\/p>\n
