\u201cMAX,\u201d a sculpture created with wood and aluminum by Steffie Mongar, is one of the architecture-inspired works on display this month at the Chester County Art Association.<\/p><\/div>\n

Two shows are open to the public at the Chester County Art Association (CCAA) in West Chester. From now through Feb. 6, \u201cBuildings: Art Inspired by Architecture\u201d is featured in the Allinson Gallery, and \u201cOil Paintings by Artist Victor Mordasov\u201d are on display in the Huston Gallery.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mordasov\u2019s highly varnished and gilt frame paintings are reminiscent of a room of Old Master paintings at the Philadelphia Museum of Art; his precision with still life and portraiture are particularly striking with several stunning landscapes as well, a CCAA news release said.<\/p>\n

The architecture-inspired show features everything from vivid mosaic skylines, to pencil drawings of Mont San Michel to a sculptural piece called MAX, built up from wood and aluminum, the release said.<\/p>\n

Within the gallery walls viewers will find a range of images and forms that fit the theme, from very telling depictions of historic and contemporary Chester County buildings to compositions that merely refer to the structural and geometric elements of architecture. The show continues CCAA\u2019s celebration of its new building, construction of which begins in the fall, the release said.<\/p>\n

The Chester County Art Association, a nonprofit cultural institution, is located at 100 North Bradford Avenue in West Chester. Gallery hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The galleries are open to the public, and admission is free.
