\"Image<\/a>A driver slumped over his steering wheel on Rt. 926 led to a police dispatch \u2013 and a subsequent drunken-driving arrest \u2013 on Sunday, Jan. 5, at 6:38 a.m., Westtown-East Goshen Township Regional Police said.<\/p>\n

Officers responded to the intersection of Rt. 926 and Bridlewood Boulevard in Thornbury Township for a driver slumped over the steering wheel of a blue Ford Focus on the shoulder of the roadway, police said.\u00a0 When officers arrived and made contact with Michael P. Gilbert, the sole occupant of the vehicle, Gilbert, 50, of Newtown Square, said he pulled over to take a nap, police said.<\/p>\n

During the conversation, officers detected a strong, alcoholic odor on Gilbert\u2019s breath, and he failed several field sobriety tests, police said. Gilbert was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, transported to Chester County Hospital for a blood sample, and later released after processing, pending a summons from district court, police said.<\/p>\n
