From the annual food drive to a number of Indian athletes signing collegiate letters of intent, to the announcement of this year\u2019s honorees for the Wall of Honor, it\u2019s been a month full of news.<\/p>\n<p>In November and December, UHS students contributed to the annual canned food drive that was sponsored by the school\u2019s Social Studies Department.\u00a0 On Dec. 11, the students helped deliver a large truckload of canned goods to the Kennett Community Food Cupboard \u2014 which serves needy residents throughout the southern Chester County area.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>While good works were going on, and number of Unionville students decided on the next step in their academic and athletic careers, signing letters of intent this month.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19972\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/UHSsignees1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19972\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-19972  \" style=\"border: 2px solid black; margin: 4px;\" alt=\"UHSsignees1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/UHSsignees1-300x241.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"241\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/UHSsignees1-300x241.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/UHSsignees1-124x100.jpg 124w, https:\/\/www.unionvilletimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/UHSsignees1.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-19972\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Some of Unionville High School&#8217;s top athletes committed this month to continue their sports in college. Baseball infielder Nick Ward will be taking his slick glove to Virginia Commonwealth, while Samantha Ortiz will be playing soccer at East Stroudsburg and teammate Nicole Ortiz is planning to play at Mansfield.<\/p>\n<p>Also signing in December: McKayla Mawn will continue her diving career at Penn State, while Jillian Zubillaga committed to play lacrosse at Oregon. Her teammate Rachel Hughes will play at Duquesne. She is a long-time educator and currently a consultant to Temple University<\/p>\n<p>The Ray and Mary McKay (the latter of whom is deceased) from Class of 1960 AND 1952. Both were educators and community volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>Samuel Stone Wilson (deceased) from the Class of 1950.
