Federal officials signed off, it was announced Thursday, on plans to put the project out to bid, with an Aug. 2014 completion date expected.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>POCOPSON \u2014 The wheels of government move slowly\u2026or do they? On Monday, it appeared the township would have to wait for the federal government to reopen in order to receive final approval of the plans for the Route 52, Lenape-Unionville and Wawaset Road roundabout.<\/p>\n<p>Supervisors\u2019 Chair, Steve Conary expressed his dismay while making the announcement at Monday\u2019s Township Board of Supervisors\u2019 meeting, telling residents \u201ceven though the roundabout is a state project, final approval has to be received from the federal government.\u201d<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Conary explained that timing is crucial for this project because officials were hoping to impact only one school year. If the project becomes delayed by a few weeks, however, it will impact the next school year as well.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday afternoon, Conary sent out a notice, via email, that the final plans were approved, bids had already gone out and the project will be awarded in early November. According to officials, \u201cbarring any unforeseen circumstances,\u201d the roundabout will be completed by August 2014, he said, just weeks before the start of the new school year.<\/p>\n<p>Conary and Vice-Chair, Georgia Brutscher voted to accept the maintenance agreement for the roundabout planned for the intersection of the three roadways.<\/p>\n<p>Supervisor Ricki Stumpo voted against the maintenance agreement.
