Chester County SPCA’s fund-raiser returns to home of E. Marlborough animal advocates<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Those who missed last year\u2019s memorable Forget-Me-Not Gala will get another chance to enjoy a spectacular Unionville backdrop for the Chester County SPCA\u2019s 26th<\/sup> annual fund-raiser.<\/p>\n

The home of East Marlborough Township Supervisors’ Chairman Cuyler Walker and his wife, Katie Ryan Walker \u2013 used for scenes in two films by M. Night Shyamalan \u2014 will welcome guests on Sunday, June 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. for an evening of entertainment, food and libations to support the work of the county\u2019s non-profit, animal-advocacy organization.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s emcee will be Sue Serio, Fox 29\u2019s weather anchor for \u201cGood Day Philadelphia.\u201d The event will include the traditional carriage parade, canine demonstrations by U.S. Customs officials, commemorative portraits by Gifford Photography, and live and silent auctions.<\/p>\n

The carriage parade is always a highlight of the Chester County SPCA’s Forget-Me-Not Gala.<\/p><\/div>\n

Calling the Walker property an \u201cideal venue\u201d for the fund-raiser, Rich Britton, a Chester County SPCA spokesman, said the agency is especially grateful for the Walkers\u2019 willingness to host back-to-back events.<\/p>\n

“It’s an elegant garden party that gets better every year,\u201d said Britton. \u201cThe best restaurants. Martini, champagne and open bars. Awesome music, silent and live auctions. A wonderful event where true animal lovers come together to celebrate and support the work of the Chester County SPCA, an open access\u00a0shelter that turns no animal in need away.”<\/p>\n

Contrary to popular belief, the Chester County SPCA does not receive government funding and is not affiliated with any national organization. Thus, it relies on residents\u2019 donations for costs that include investigating cruelty cases and rescuing the animals involved in them. \u00a0SPCA officials said the agency responds to 400 and 500 abuse complaints a year.<\/p>\n

Tickets for the gala, which must be purchased by June 5, begin at $175 per person, $150 of which is eligible for a tax deduction. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
