Artist-photographer Cris Staley Hutchinson chronicles her daughter\u2019s battle with cancer in a film and installation called \u201cFighting Bear.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n

Two new exhibits by different artists at the Chester County Art Association (CCAA) will support the battle against pediatric cancer.<\/p>\n

An exhibition by painter Annette Alessi, \u201cCapturing a Moment in Time: Dedicated to a Brave Little Soul,\u201d opens Saturday at the association\u2019s Exton Square Studio. The show will include roughly 30 original paintings; giclee prints will also be available.\u00a0 Twenty percent of the net profits will be donated to the Cancer Center at The Children\u2019s Hospital of Philadelphia to help find a cure for pediatric cancer.\u00a0 The exhibition honors Liam James Kane, 2000-2005, a close family friend of the artist.<\/p>\n

A free public reception will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Alessi\u2019s goal is to raise $3,000 for the hospital.\u00a0 The exhibition will run through May 31, and in addition to purchasing art, visitors can also buy $10 \u201cchances\u201d to win an original commissioned portrait of your child by Alessi or a framed giclee print of her piece \u201cTrunk Bay Beach.\u201d For more information, visit:\u00a0www.alessicreations.com\/chop<\/a>.<\/p>\n

An exhibition by painter Annette Alessi, including \u201cTrunk Bay Beach,\u201d will be on display through May 31. Twenty percent of the proceeds from sales will benefit Children\u2019s Hospital of Philadelphia\u2019s pediatric cancer research.<\/p><\/div>\n

A short film and installation focusing on childhood cancer will be presented Sunday at the art association\u2019s West Chester location. \u201cFighting Bear,\u201d a film by local artist-photographer Cris Staley Hutchinson will be screened twice during a program that runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Staley Hutchinson\u2019s daughter won an arduous battle with cancer and this installation and film engage with that chapter of the family\u2019s lives. This one-night exhibition and film, which will be shown at 6 p.m. and again at 7 p.m., is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

The Chester County Art Association, located at 100 N. Bradford Ave., West Chester, is open 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; admission is free. \u00a0 The association\u2019s Exton Square Studio is located on the first floor of the Exton Square Mall near Boscov\u2019s. Hours are Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.<\/p>\n
