Ryan Costello<\/p><\/div>\n

WEST CHESTER\u00a0 \u2013 Chester County Recorder of Deeds Ryan Costello today announced that he will seek the Republican nomination for Chester County Commissioner. Costello will seek to replace Carol Aichele, who has accepted an appointment to serve as Pennsylvania Secretary of State under incoming Governor Tom Corbett.<\/p>\n

As Recorder of Deeds, Costello reduced spending in the county row office, cutting his office\u2019s budget approximately 5% over his 3 year tenure.\u00a0 \u201cAs a county official and a former township supervisor, I have shown leadership in cutting spending and holding the line on taxes — experience that is needed in these trying economic times,\u201d said Costello.\u00a0 In addition to reducing expenditures, Costello has also reduced staff within the Office of Record of Deeds.<\/p>\n

Discussing the financial difficulties facing many Chester County taxpayers, Costello stressed the need for elected officials to employ innovative practices to reduce the burden on taxpayers, stating \u201cWe need to continue to find ways to spend less money, and run a smart government that puts the taxpayer first .\u00a0 As a County Commissioner, I pledge to think outside the box to find new ways to perform essential government services while reducing the burden on our taxpayers.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also touted his strong pro-taxpayer record as East Vincent Township Supervisor, where he served for 6 years, never having voted to raise property taxes.\u00a0 \u201cAt a time when the private sector is making spending and staffing cuts, I support efforts to control costs in county government,\u201d said Costello.\u00a0 \u201cTaxpayers are tightening their belts and county government must do the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cChester County government is well run, and Terrence Farrell and Carol Aichele have done a good job of holding the line on taxes this budget cycle,\u201d said Costello.\u00a0\u00a0 \u201cI hope to build on their successes and focus on increased efficiencies, spending less taxpayer money and maintaining the critical services that our residents rely upon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Costello is a life-long resident of Chester County.\u00a0 He was elected to the position of Recorder of Deeds in Chester County in 2008 and is currently serving his first 4 year term.\u00a0\u00a0 He previously served 6 years on the East Vincent Township Board of Supervisors, including 4 years as Chairman of the Board.\u00a0 Costello is a graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School, Ursinus College, and Villanova Law School.\u00a0 He works as an attorney with the law firm of O\u2019Donnell, Weiss & Mattei, P.C..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
