Pianist Donna Coleman will perform Wednesday at Penn State’s Great Valley campus, off Rt. 202 in Malvern.<\/p><\/div>\n

A free, community concert featuring renowned pianist Donna Coleman will be held Wednesday evening at Penn State\u2019s Great Valley campus.<\/p>\n

The 1 \u00bd-hour program, which begins at 7 p.m. in Musser Auditorium, will include commentary and will trace the idea of ragtime from Johann Sebastian Bach to the present, with works by such composers as Scarlatti, Chopin, Debussy, Poulenc, Cervantes, Joplin, \u00a0and Jelly Roll Morton.<\/p>\n

According to a biography released by the university, Coleman held academic positions in three American universities before joining the faculty of the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia, as Head of Keyboard in 1995. Among her numerous prizes are the Solo Recitalist Fellowship from the United States Information Agency, second prize in the first International American Music Competition (John F. Kennedy Center), three Rockefeller Foundation grants for U.S. tours, and a Fulbright Senior Scholar Award that funded her first residency in Australia in 1992.<\/p>\n
