Volunteer needed for Founders’ Day; Conary says he won’t seek reelection in 2013<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

POCOPSON \u2014 2013 made a quiet entrance in the township as the Board of Supervisors held Monday\u2019s reorganization meeting before an empty house.<\/p>\n

Supervisors Steve Conary and Georgia Brutscher were reelected as Supervisors\u2019 Chair and Vice-Chair. Susan Simone will continue as Township Secretary, Peggy Lennon as Treasurer, Ricki Stumpo \u2014 who is also the third Township Supervisor \u2014 as Receptionist and Mark Knightly as Director of Public Works.<\/p>\n

Richard Jensen will continue as Pocopson Township Code Enforcement Officer, Fire Marshall and pending approval by the Governor, 2013 Emergency Management Coordinator.<\/p>\n

Township meetings will be held the 2nd<\/sup> and 4th<\/sup> Mondays of the month except May, October, November and December, which will be held the 1st<\/sup> and 3rd<\/sup> Monday. \u00a0The next Board of Supervisor\u2019s Meeting will be\u00a0 January 28th<\/sup> at 7:30pm at the township office building – 740 Denton Hollow Road.<\/p>\n

Supervisors\u00a0 announced the township is in need of a resident to head up the Founders Day committee. Founders Day is a yearly celebration held at Pocopson Park in September which commemorates the anniversary of Pocopson Township.<\/p>\n

Supervisors said the celebration draws more than 1,000 residents and friends of the township for an afternoon of games, entertainment, food and community. But it appears, supervisors noted with some sadness,\u00a0 that Founder\u2019s Day 2013 will have to be cancelled if a chair is not found within the next month.<\/p>\n

In closing Monday\u2019s meeting, Chair Steve Conary recapped his time dedicated to township. Conary said he first became a member of the township planning commission in 2000 and served on several committees until successfully becoming a township supervisor in 2007.<\/p>\n

Conary announced that he would not be seeking re-election and said he and his family plan to \u201cundertake some new endeavors.\u201d\u00a0 Conary stated that he is extremely satisfied with the many projects the township has completed during his time in office.
