Andrew pushes 160th towns to adopt gun control resolutions

Anton Andrew

Anton Andrew, a candidate for the Pennsylvania State House, is taking action when our legislators have not. Andrew has sent a letter to each of the municipalities in the 160th Legislative District, calling on those municipalities to pass a resolution to promote sensible gun control legislation.

“As a citizen and a parent, my message is clear. We cannot wait. Our children cannot wait. The time to reduce gun violence and ensure safe gun ownership is now.”

Andrew’s letter called on the municipalities to pass a resolution supporting:

  1. Preventing known and suspected terrorists, those convicted of violent hate crimes and those with a history of domestic abuse from buying guns.
  2. Funding research into the effect of gun violence and gun safety technology.
  3. Requiring trigger locks on guns in all homes where children are present.
  4. Banning access to assault-style weapons.
  5. Reducing the number of permissible cartridges in a clip or magazine.
  6. Restricting ownership of firearms by the mentally ill.
  7. Ensuring that background checks are required on all sales, including online and at gun shows.
  8. Preserving the provisions of the Pennsylvania Instant Check System (PICS) which provides instant access to background records.

Andrew said in his letter: “I know that in light of the devastating tragedy at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, in Parkland Florida, we are all concerned about the level of gun violence in our nation.  Gun violence is a complex issue and there is no one solution. However, I believe we can and should come together to take common sense steps to reduce gun violence and ensure safe gun ownership.”

Andrew plans to work with all municipalities in the 160th district to pass the resolution: Kennett Square Borough, Kennett Square Township, Pocopson Township and Pennsbury Township in Chester County, and Chadds Ford Township, Bethel Township, Concord Township, and Upper Chichester Townships in Delaware County.
