Super Six: The holiday countdown begins

Fun ideas for Santa to leave under the tree

By Kelly Hockenberry, Columnist, The Times

kellycolumnnewest916Hey, November! The official countdown to holiday is here…whether we like it or not. Personally, I prefer to procrastinate until around the 22nd of December just to challenge myself. But, I understand that most (normal) people have gifts wrapped up with a bow by then. So, in honor of you “prepared” folks, I’ve put together a little sampling of what I’d like Santa to consider.

  • Moroccan Wedding Blanket – I have been searching high and low for a reasonably priced throw and this is it! I love the contrast of color and texture, plus it has a scattering of silver sequins (HELLO fabulous). Strewn across the edge of your bed, this blanket adds the perfect touch. AND, it’s on sale! • november-super-six-2016Cropped, Washable Faux Leather – Say what? OH YEAH. Just my latest purchase from No.109Shop (I couldn’t wait until 12/25). These Mother Denim, hands down my favorite brand, ever, are almost too good to be true. They will be on serious wardrobe rotation all holiday season. Wear them casually with booties and a cable knit sweater or dress them up with heels and a silk blouse. L-O-V-E. Get a pair for yourself: 109 W. State Street, Kennett Square.
  • Ruffled Sweater – I am a sucker for a ruffle. This sweater is under $100 and comes in two colors. Ob-sessed. Shop here: http://bit.ly/2fmvRZ5
  • Nike “Juvenate” – My love for Nike is deep. I have a very narrow foot and this brand fits like a glove. The fact that this sneaker comes in the must-have color of the fall season is pure gold. Shop here: http://bit.ly/2frPxJY
  • Eyelash Application – Ummm, I have a confession. We all know how cuckoo I am about my manicures…well, now I have a new beauty addiction…false eyelashes. I am too chicken to go for eyelash extensions because of the risk of losing chunks of my real lashes in the process (not to mention the maintenance and the cost), so, having faux lashes applied professionally is the next best thing. The talented make-up artists at Houppette will transform your puny lashes into Bambi-like perfection for $25! Mine lasted for three days before I had to remove them. Call to make your appointment #484-732-8451. 101 W. State Street, Kennett Square.

  • Madewell Saddlebag Pouch Belt – Ummm, yes…I suppose this is, technically, afanny-pack, of sorts. BUT, hear me out! Don’t you hate lugging around a big purse when it comes time for holiday shopping? This little bag is sleek and stylish and big enough to hold your phone and a few credit cards. I dig it.
