Jason Roux was selected by USA Baseball to represent the North Atlantic region as part of the National Team Identification Series.

Unionville’s Jason Roux will be taking the national stage later this month when he travels to the USA Baseball National training center in Cary, N.C. Roux was selected by USA Baseball to represent the North Atlantic region as part of the National Team Identification Series (NTIS). NTIS provides a platform for players to compete for spots on the US National Team and participate in the national team development program.

Jason is a 13 year old student at Wilmington Friends school and will be entering the 8th grade in September. He started playing baseball as a 6 year old in the rookie division of the Unionville Recreation Association baseball program.

Due to international rules for age classification, Roux will be competing with the 14U age group. All players born in 2001 are considered 14 year olds for international play.

In order to be selected for the 18-man roster, Jason had to compete in multiple tryout skill evaluations and baseball games. He was selected from approximately 300 players that attended regional tryouts in Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey. The North Atlantic region is one of 15 regions that will be competing August 27-30 at the USA baseball facility.

The players competing in Cary this month will be evaluated for consideration on next year’s 15U National team. In addition to playing games against other regional teams, Roux will participate in combine style skills testing for speed, strength, and baseball skills.
